No fears for Clem
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Stephen Clemence goes into what will be billed as a potential cup upset against Birmingham City declaring: “We fear no-one.”
City are currently third in the First Division and gearing up for another charge at the Premiership while we’re struggling with injuries and going through a tough time with the fans on the manager’s back.
But midfielder Clemence pointed out our home form — four wins and a draw in five games — and insisted: “We don’t fear anyone.
“At home we’ve played well, won all our games apart from the draw against City — which we should have won really — and in the last home game against Derby the first part of the first half we were outstanding.
“If we can start like that and nick a goal it should be a good night for us.”
With a place in Europe for the winner the Worthington Cup remains a key competition and Clemence reckons the players are determined to banish last season’s disappointing early cup exits — we lost our grip on this trophy at Fulham at third round stage.
“The Worthington Cup is a very important for us,” he said. “It’s a way into Europe and we stumbled last year and we don’t want to repeat that this year.
“This is the same sort of opposition but we’re at home this time and we’ve got to go out and get the right result.
“The result is the most important thing and that’s what we’ll go out to get. It doesn’t matter if we win 1-0 or 4-3 and even if we don’t play well we’ve got to make sure we’re in the next round.
“Birmingham are third in the First Division so they are obviously having a good season. They’ve done well over the past few years, been in the play-offs a few times and they are a big club.
“It will be a tough game. They’ve got some good players but so have we and we’ll be expecting to go out there and play well.”
