Michael Dawson refused to make excuses following the 1-0 reverse at Chelsea on Saturday. The fixture against the Premiership champions came just 39 hours after the team stepped off the pitch in Seville after the first leg of our UEFA Cup quarter-final and they could not find a response to Ricardo Carvalho's strike early in the second half at Stamford Bridge.
"It was a little bit difficult but we are not going to make excuses," said the central defender. "We were a little bit tired in the morning but when you get on the pitch it is the last thing you think of - you get out there and do your job.
"I think we did that, maybe it wasn't the best of games or performances, but I think we worked our socks off. We were disappointed not to get something out of the game.
"We had a couple of chances which led to a couple of good saves and we should have come away with something after a hard couple of days," added Daws, who quickly switched his attention to Thursday night and the return with Sevilla at the Lane.
"It is a massive, massive game in our season. We know what it means to the club and we know what it means for the season - it can keep it going for us.
"Certainly we've got nothing to be afraid of. They are a good team who are near the top of their league but we know what we can do at White Hart Lane."
