Nice one, John

English Barclays Premiership

John Sutton made Reading pay the penalty to maintain Spurs Under-17’s unbeaten start in the FA Premier Academy League.

The striker buried his chance from the penalty spot in the 70th minute to secure the win after Jimmy Lee has been upended in the box.

Although delighted with the victory, boss Jimmy Neighbour knows his side can play better. “I was a little disappointed with the performance,” he admitted.

“We defended very well but we should have won by more than 1-0. We didn’t create enough chances against what was a very hard working Reading team.

“So although we won the game we know we can do better.”

Spurs U17s: Burch, Gardner, Herron, Marney, O’Donoghue, Henry, Lee (Barnett 72), Hughes, Sutton, Barnard (Slabber 72), Galbraith.

Meanwhile, the Under-19’s match against Birmingham City was called off with the Blues suffering a flu epidemic.
