Fresh from starring on the international stage, Erik Lamela is determined to return to winning ways at Sunderland on Saturday.
The winger scored a fantastic goal - his first at senior international level - as Argentina shocked World champions by racing into a 4-0 lead in last week’s friendly in Dusseldorf. Erik played 68 minutes as it ended 4-2.
He was back at Spurs on Monday and gradually joined by his team-mates returning from international duty all over the world as Mauricio Pochettino prepares the squad for the Stadium of Light.
After a positive start and four straight wins in the Premier League and Europa League, we suffered a 3-0 home loss against Liverpool last time out.
“The season starts again now,” said Erik. “We’ve only played three games in the Premier League and it’s a long season.
“It is a difficult game and we will need to show good personality and character. I hope we can win this game.
“On a personal level, I will keep my feet on the ground, work hard and hope to continue playing well and help the team.”
