Mauricio Pochettino said the players will concentrate on their own jobs as we travel to St James’ Park this afternoon (Sunday, April 19, 4pm).
The squad is determined to turn around our fortunes after a draw at Burnley and home loss to Villa in our last two matches and face a Newcastle team that has lost five on the trot in the Premier League.
“All games are difficult and it’s true, the last period for Newcastle hasn’t been good but for us, that’s not important,” said the Head Coach. “We need to recover, to look in the mirror at ourselves, to look at our performance and try to do our best.
“The players feel that it wasn’t a good performance (against Villa) and that we need to improve and increase our levels.
“During the season sometimes it happens that you are down but we need to be strong in our mentality and recover the feeling we had before the international break. We don’t need excuses, just to try and improve.
“We need to try to forget the last two games, to start again and fight for the three points at Newcastle. We have a good opportunity to show everyone that they can trust in our team.
“We have six games left and we need to get some positive results.”
