Newcastle vs Spurs - Hugo eyes points
12 February 2014|Tottenham Hotspur
Hugo Lloris has the inside track on a number of Newcastle’s French stars – and is keen to take points off them tonight.
Our France international goalkeeper is well aware of the talents of some of his fellow countrymen plying their trade in the North East.
And even without the services of another of his compatriots after Yohan Cabaye’s January transfer to Paris Saint-Germain, Hugo knows the Magpies will be tough to beat at St James’ Park.
“It’s never easy to play there,” said the 27-year-old. “They have good fans, a good team. They lost Cabaye, the main player, but they have some good players – good French players.
“It will be tough but exciting to play that kind of game.”
That said, our popular number one – voted Spurs fans’ man of the match in Sunday’s win against Everton – feels three points tonight is vital if we’re to break back into the Champions League qualifying places in the latter parts of the season.
“They have good results against big teams so we have to be focused on this game,” Hugo added. “Three points is very important in the race for the top four. It’s still open, we’re still on a good run and we have to keep going.”
