Martin Jol made six changes from the side that beat Southend on Wednesday - Pascal Chimbonda, Ledley King, Lee Young-Pyo, Hossam Ghaly, Didier Zokora and Dimitar Berbatov come in for Paul Stalteri, Calum Davenport, Benoit Assou-Ekotto, Danny Murphy, Teemu Tainio and Mido.

Plans were then hit by the lae withdrawal of Jermain Defoe, so Danny Murphy started with Jamie O'Hara on the bench.
