Christian Eriksen identified one major difference between our 3-0 defeat at Stamford Bridge at the start of December and our 5-3 triumph in the New Year’s Day return – we took our chances.
White Hart Lane was rocking as we celebrated our 50th win over the Blues in all competitions with a five-goal display – Harry Kane’s brace being added to by Danny Rose’s first goal of the season, an Andros Townsend penalty and a well-placed strike from Nacer Chadli.
Jose Mourinho’s men did manage to breach our defence on three occasions, but it was the clinical display at the other end that was the focus of Christian’s thoughts after the game.
“When we played at Chelsea a few weeks ago we had chances in the first 20 minutes but didn’t take them,” said the Danish international, who once again flourished in his attacking midfield role.
“This time we took our chances and we showed some character after that to keep going, so it’s always nice to win like this.
“It was an unbelievable performance and a strange game, because it was open but still really hard to play in.
“It was an exciting contest but, as I said, this is one of the times where we’ve made our chances count and that made for a really good game.”
