New lads special - Kieran confident

05 August 2015|Tottenham Hotspur

Kieran Trippier says the team is 'raring to go' with the big kick-off at Manchester United just hours away.

It barely seems like yesterday that Kieran arrived at Hotspur Way but a month down the line, pre-season work is done and now we step back into the real thing, the 2015-16 Premier League season at Old Trafford.

"Pre-season has gone so quickly," said Kieran, who has featured in all six pre-season friendlies.

"These are the games and the occasions you want to play in. United have a few new signings but I feel so confident that we can go there and get a result.

"Our fitness levels are phenomenal with the work starting all the way back on day one of pre-season up to this week and AC Milan. We’re raring to go now against United."

The flying full-back was named Man of the Match for our Audi Cup win against AC Milan on Wednesday and appears to be battling it out with Kyle Walker for the right-back slot against United.

"I’ve focused on my performances and thought all along when I get the chance to play, to play well and hopefully keep the spot," he said.

"It was good to get a first 90 minutes under my belt against AC Milan. I feel fit, feel sharp and it’s always good to get a win and a clean sheet.

"AC Milan are a huge team and we know all about their individual players but we focused on what we wanted to do, pressed them, got the first goal and just needed the second to kill the game off."

That second arrived via Kieran's pass to Tom Carroll, a second fine goal after Nacer Chadli's cracker to open the scoring in the first half.

"I was about to cross the ball when I heard TC shout my name!" he admitted. "I managed to find him and it was a great finish. We played well and we're ready now for United."
