Nacer's praise for Ryan after Sunderland triumph

Nacer Chadli said Ryan Mason was deserving of the plaudits after his match-winner against Sunderland.
The hard-working central midfielder finally broke the deadlock in the 82nd minute as we claimed a 1-0 victory at the Stadium of Light on Sunday.
He was subsequently carried off after being clattered in the process of scoring, but Belgian international Nacer was full of praise for the 24-year-old afterwards and underlined how the total commitment of the whole team paid dividends in the North East.
“It was amazing to get our first win – we’ve waited too long for it, but we’ve worked hard for it,” he said.
“Ryan created chances last time out and it didn’t happen for him, but it was great for him to get the goal this time.
“He works so hard for the team and his perseverance paid off.”
Nacer was one of a handful of players who went close to hitting the target for us, while Sunderland hit the woodwork either side of the interval through former Spur Jermain Defoe and Jack Rodwell.
Ultimately, though, we emerged with three hard-earned points and our first win of the Premier League season.
“It was a difficult game,” Nacer added. “It was not easy in the first half to create chances – we only created a couple – but in the second half we created more chances and finally the goal came.
“It was a good win and we deserved the three points.”
