Nacer helps local walking club cross the finish line for Sport Relief

12 February 2016|Tottenham Hotspur

Nacer Chadli joined members of Tottenham Hotspur Foundation’s community walking group to take part in a three-mile walking challenge for Sport Relief.

Launched only last month, the community walking group is encouraging the people of London to do something to make themselves feel proud and sign up to this year’s Sport Relief Games.

The challenge took walkers on a two-mile route through Haringey before completing the last mile by walking four laps of the pitch at White Hart Lane. During their last lap, Nacer dropped in to cheer them on over the finishing line.

The group, named ‘Walk The Walk’, is designed to help local people take steps towards adopting a healthier lifestyle and forms part of the Club’s commitment to combating the rise of Haringey’s obesity levels.

Janet King, a Walk The Walk participant, said: “I was really excited to see Sport Relief putting an emphasis on walking events this year because it means more people like me can do our bit to support the campaign. Most of us in the walking club haven’t done exercise in a long, long time so three miles was quite a challenge. The last mile was quite tough but having Nacer Chadli there to cheer us on really helped us to push ourselves over the finishing line.”

Nacer said: “The walking club should be very proud of their achievements today. There is great community spirit in Tottenham and it’s encouraging to see local residents come together to do something good for a cause like Sport Relief.”

The Sport Relief Games are back at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park on Sunday 20th March. It’s your chance to walk, run, swim or cycle yourself proud at the UK’s most iconic sporting venue and, with entertainment for all the family.

Whether you enter the Mile, Swimathon or Cycle, as a personal challenge or just to join in, the money you raise will help to transform lives. In fact, half of all the money raised by the public is spent right here at home in the UK, with the other half used to make a difference in the world’s poorest communities.
