Nacer gave us lift-off - Harry

Harry Kane pointed to Nacer Chadli’s goal as the turning point in Wednesday’s Capital One Cup triumph over Newcastle.

The Belgian international drilled into the corner some 36 seconds into the second half to make it 2-0 – reversing the roles from our previous meeting with the Magpies when the visitors scored immediately after the restart.

We went on to lose 2-1 on that occasion, but there was no such misfortune this time as we registered a convincing 4-0 win at White Hart Lane to book a two-legged semi-final clash with Sheffield United, Nabil Bentaleb and substitute Roberto Soldado joining Nacer and Harry on the scoresheet.

Looking back on the contest, third goalscorer Harry said Nacer’s effort was key to the overall balance of the fifth round tie.

“Scoring the second goal straight after half-time really helped ease any nerves and killed any momentum they might have got,” said the in-form front man.

“It was a great finish from Nacer and a great performance. We were solid throughout, got four goals and a clean sheet so we’re all delighted.

“We’re through to the semi-finals now where we’ve got Sheffield United. We’ll have to be switched on for that but we’re all looking forward to it.”

Harry was also thrilled to see fellow Academy graduate Nabil open his goalscoring account.

“Everyone is delighted for Nabil,” he added. “The goalkeeper dropped the ball and he was switched on and came up with a great finish.

“He’s a hard grafter and everyone was happy that he scored his first goal for the Club.”
