Nabil Bentaleb is determined to ensure Algeria are at their very best in tonight’s World Cup last 16 showdown with Germany.
Our 19-year-old midfielder helped the African side qualify for the knockout stages in Brazil as runners-up in Group H, having lost to Belgium, beaten South Korea and drawn with Russia.
But ahead of what many believe will be their toughest test yet, Nabil is adamant his nation will be no pushovers as they look to see off the challenge of Joachim Low’s much-fancied outfit.
“A lot of people think Germany are one of the favourites to possibly win the World Cup,” said the central midfielder, who over the weekend spoke of his pride at being part of Algeria’s endeavours after a breakthrough season at White Hart Lane.
“The level of this tournament is very high – you can see that by the fact that even some of the past winners and other fancied teams didn't get through the group stage.
“We will have to give everything and make sure we have no regrets.”
