Nabil salutes midfield band of 'brothers'

Nabil Bentaleb stood alongside his band of midfield ‘brothers’ after Sunday’s win over Everton and declared: “We were up for the fight.”

The 19-year-old was again impressive in the centre of the park as we triumphed over the Toffees thanks to Emmanuel Adebayor’s second half strike.

And after playing alongside a host of central midfielders over the course of the 90 minutes, including Paulinho, Mousa Dembele, Christian Eriksen and Etienne Capoue, Nabil felt it was job done as we march on to St James’ Park for Wednesday’s clash with Newcastle.

“Winning against Everton was a big moment in the season and we’ve got three very, very important points,” Nabil said.

“We know that Everton are a good team and we knew it was going to be a tough game, but we were up for the fight and we showed it.

“It’s easier all the time when you have a lot of people helping you (in the centre of the pitch) and we were like brothers in the midfield, all fighting for each other.

“The goal came from some quick play from Kyle and Ade scored with a very good finish with his left foot. Again he showed what he can do.”
