Murphy's law

21 October 2015|Tottenham Hotspur

The last time Spurs fan Daniel Murphy was at the Lane he told he he was 'excited' for the 2015 Major League Baseball season - now he's led New York Mets to the World Series!

Daniel brought his team-mates Matt Harvey and Curtis Granderson to our match against Newcastle in October as part of his whistle-stop tour of Europe after Mets' 2014 campaign had come to an end.

A year later and Murphy's is the name on everyone's lips in American sport.

Daniel has broken MLB records in helping the Mets to the World Series for the fifth time and first since 1986.

A second baseman, Daniel became the first player in MLB history to hit home runs in six-successive post-season matches as the Mets beat Chicago Cubs 8-3 on Wednesday night to win the National League Championship Series 4-0. They will now play either Kansas City or Toronto in the World Series.

Daniel first spoke to us back in 2013 when he planned his European holiday around a match at the Lane!

"It all started for me playing FIFA and picking the likes of Peter Crouch and Luka Modric but when Spurs signed Clint Dempsey, that took it to another level for me," he told us.

"Now I regularly get up at 7 o'clock in the morning to watch matches and my wife looks at me as if I'm crazy!

"I always like watching Kyle Walker, with that pace he brings to the game, but I just enjoy watching the team."
