Jermaine Jenas insists we're moving in the right direction after Sunday's win against Reading took us back into sixth in the Premiership.JJ had one of two goals disallowed - Jermain Defoe the other - in an entertaining clash at the Lane that saw us rack up 21 efforts on goal.
Keepers Marcus Hahnemann and Adam Federici - Hahnemann went off injured at half-time - made a number of fine saves in the Reading goal with Hahnemann denying Robbie Keane, Dimitar Berbatov and Steed Malbranque inside the first 20 minutes. Malbranque also clipped the post with only three minutes on the clock and throughout the game, a host of further chances and good positions came and went.
Leroy Lita hit the post for Reading and Paul Robinson was at his best to deny Dave Kitson in the first half and it took Robbie Keane's penalty awarded for handball against Greg Halford to win it just before the break.
The victory made it five on the trot in the Premiership and we've won eight and drawn one match in the last 10 in all competitions - losing only to Chelsea in the FA Cup - since back-to-back Premiership defeats against Manchester United and Sheffield United in February.
"We're a strong side, we've got over our blip and we're moving forward now," stated JJ, who admitted to a slight concern that we didn't make more of those countless goalscoring opportunities on Sunday.
"We had the chances to score more goals and it's always at the back of your mind when you've missed so many chances that they might nick a goal at the end and that would have hurt us.
"It was end to end stuff, Reading came here and attacked and that made for an exciting game.
"They are brilliant on the counter-attack, we knew that and were cautious of it and they put us under pressure with that long throw at the end. But we held on and I felt we deserved the three points."
