Michel Vorm had mixed emotions after our 1-1 draw in the third round of the FA Cup at Burnley on Monday night.
The goalkeeper was delighted to see our defence restrict the home team to minimal chances – the stats showed Burnley had five efforts on goal throughout.
But like the rest of the squad, Michel was disappointed not to secure victory on the night after taking the lead through Nacer Chadli in the second half.
We were on top at that point but the Clarets fought their way back into the game and forced a replay when Sam Vokes equalised on 73 minutes.
“If you almost give nothing away then with the few chances we created we had to win this game,” said Michel, who was only really forced into one serious save all night from Danny Ings.
“You have to take the positives and that’s although we conceded once, we gave nothing away. Okay, it’s a 1-1 draw but we’re still in the FA Cup and we need to finish it next week.
“We’ll be looking to progress so if it’s not today, it will have to be in the replay. We want to go as far as we can in every competition and this one is important.”
The replay will be at the Lane on January 14 or 15 - date yet to be confirmed.
