Mixed emotions for Christian
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
It was a case of mixed emotions for Christian Ziege after his first senior start for 13 months against Fulham on Saturday.
Of course, after his injury woes, the German international was relieved to come through 90 minutes of action unscathed. The outcome of the game, however, was obviously not to his liking.
"First of all I was happy to be back on the pitch, but I am not happy that the result didn't go the right way," reacted Christian after the game that ended in a 2-1 reverse.
"It is good for me personally to be back and I think we deserved at least a draw. That is football and sometimes you don't get what you deserve.
"To be honest, I think it was a difficult game to come back - the pitch conditions weren't that nice. I think I did well to get through 90 minutes, I tried to get everything out of my tank and work hard.
"My match fitness is still 10 or 15 per cent away, but I felt alright."
Meanwhile, Christian was preparing for a sleepless night as he revealed that he was suffering from a dead leg in the same spot as the one that led to emergency surgery following the Boxing Day game against Charlton.
"The only problem I have now is that I have a dead leg in the exact same position I had on Boxing Day 2002. I am just hoping it is not the same as last time - I will stay awake tonight to make sure there is nothing wrong!"
Thankfully, he relayed to us via text message on Sunday that his leg is fine.
