Mixed emotions for Ade and Nabil

Emmanuel Adebayor scored for Togo against Ghana in a dramatic African Cup of Nations qualifier in Lome on Wednesday.

However, it proved no more than a consolation for the striker as Togo slipped to a second-successive defeat in  Group E.

Togo led 1-0 and then trailed 2-1 when Ade rose well to power home a header from a free-kick to level the scores in the 77th minute. However, Ghana grabbed maximum points thanks to Christian Atsu's goal five minutes from time.

Togo are bottom of the group with four matches to go.

It was better news for Nabil Bentaleb's Algeria, who left it late to beat Mali - Carl Medjani heading home from a free-kick with five minutes remaining. Algeria top Group B with two wins in two.

The seven group winners, seven runners-up and the best third-placed team will progress to the finals, joining hosts Morocco in January.
