Mills up for the Cup
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Leigh Mills is looking forward to stepping out onto the White Hart Lane pitch for the first time in the FA Youth Cup tie against Nottingham Forest this evening, kick-off 7pm.
The summer recruit to our Academy from Swindon Town impressed in the recent reserve win at Derby and is now concentrated on youth football's premier competition, where we have landed a home tie for only the third time in five seasons.
"I am feeling good about it and the preparations have been good," considered Leigh at Spurs Lodge ahead of the game. "We had a solid game on Saturday against Cardiff I thought and we are feeling confident. We have received team reports on Forest and it should be a good game.
"There will always be nerves, especially with it being my first game at White Hart Lane, playing at a big stadium with all the people there. My family are coming down and I am looking forward to it."
The FA Youth Cup provides the opportunity for aspiring young players to showcase their talents on the big stages and Leigh admits this is one reason why the competition is so special to the players.
"That is a big part of it, but it is also the competition and the prestige that goes with going far," he added. "If you get to the later stages you will play in front of bigger crowds and it is the high point of the season.
"It will be the biggest game I've played at club level.
"We're looking strong, we've got Jamie O'Hara and Phil Ifil coming back to give us a bit more experience in there. Forest are strong in youth football, I know a couple of their players from England duty and they bring their players through. So do we and hopefully we can match them."
