Mike, Gilly inducted into Hall Of Fame
03 December 2013|Tottenham Hotspur
Mike England and Alan Gilzean were inducted into the club's Hall Of Fame on Monday night.
In the first of two evenings in front of a packed audience at White Hart Lane, Mike and 'Gilly' were joined by fellow legends Pat Jennings, Alan Mullery, Graham Roberts, John Pratt, Paul Miller and Mark Falco to celebrate their careers at Spurs.
Fellow inductees and team-mates Pat and Alan carried out the induction ceremony and presented both players with their Hall Of Fame trophies.
The pair were key members of Bill Nicholson's squad that lifted the FA Cup in 1967 and went on to win the League Cup in 1971 and 1973 and the UEFA Cup in 1972.
Central defender and Welsh international Mike made 397 competitive appearances for us - he's 11th in our all-time list - and scored 19 goals.
Meanwhile, striker 'Gilly', snapped up from Dundee in December, 1964, went on to score 133 goals in 439 appearances - placing him eighth in both our all-time appearances and goalscoring lists.
After introductions and four-course dinner in the Bill Nicholson Suite, Pat, Alan and John took to the stage to reminisce about Mike and Alan's careers at Spurs.
Notably, there was then a presentation from Scot Gardiner, CEO of Dundee, of the first bottle of Gilzean whisky to Alan. It says on the label ''Celebrating Gillie's Goals'. Dundee booked a table at the event.
Alan scored 169 goals in 190 appearances for Dundee and Andy O'Sullivan, our Director of Hospitality, received the 169th bottle on behalf of the club.
Tonight (Tuesday) marks the second celebration evening at the Lane.
Alan and Mike's plaques have been added to the Hall Of Fame in the tunnel at the Lane and will be available to view on Tours from Wednesday.
