Mendes on Spurs switch
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Pedro Mendes admits that he wasn't anticipating a switch from European champions Porto this summer, but reports he is happy to play his part in what he describes as a big step in Tottenham's history.
It has certainly been a busy couple of days at the Club, with Frank Arnesen, Jacques Santini, Martin Jol and Dominique Cuperly starting work, along with the capture - subject to medical - of midfielder Sean Davis from Fulham.
So with a new era being swiftly ushered in at Spurs, the 25-year-old hopes he can contribute to a successful chapter in the history book.
"I'm very pleased to be here," reacted the midfielder at Spurs Lodge this afternoon. "It's quite a sudden move, I wasn't expecting this change but I'm very happy to be here and I'm looking forward to a good career at Tottenham and helping the club to success.

"I know a little about Tottenham and I think it's a great club and the people who work here are very good, so I’m pleased. There are a lot of new people here now, this is a big step in Tottenham’s history and I’m happy to be a part of it."
The Portuguese international describes himself as an all-round midfielder and says he is looking forward to sampling Premiership combat for the first time.
"The Premier League is a championship I like very much and I’m anxious to start playing in it. I’m a central midfielder - defensive and attacking - I like to think I’m quite an all-round midfielder.
"Now I’m anxious to start pre-season, to start training with my new team-mates and to get to know them. I’m really looking forward to the challenge."
