Memory Lane for Ledley
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Ledley King was delighted to have the opportunity of stepping out at the Lane for Monday's reserve win over Leicester City - it has been some seven months since he last enjoyed the experience!
Ledley last featured in a home first team game on March 30 against Middlesbrough before an Achilles problem put paid to his fine season. He has been ruled out of the opening stages of the current campaign with a hip injury, but returned two weeks ago for the reserves in their 2-0 win over Chelsea.
That game was the first time Ledley played at our usual reserve venue at Broadhall Way, Stevenage, but a return to the Lane was what the central defender was hankering after the most - and he has had to wait a while.
"I know," he smiled. "As soon as I went in the changing room I realised that getting changed and the feeling of being back in the stadium was nice."
Ledley missed a training ground practice match against Nottingham Forest last week after taking a knock to the knee in training, but came through the whole game against Leicester with no reaction.
"I just picked up a little knock on the knee before the practice game, but it was nothing serious - I knew that. It was just a blow and made the knee a bit stiff. I made sure I was ready for this game by missing the training ground game."
One major change at the Lane since Ledley last played there is a new playing surface that must be a major improvement on last season's. Ledley found it to his liking.
"I liked it. It's looked good all season and now I've had the chance to get out there on it - it was as good as it looked."
