McVega's support from the Lane

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Ramon Vega is trying to turn former team-mates Sol Campbell and Les Ferdinand into Celtic fans.

The Swiss international has been a big hit with Celtic fans since his arrival from the London club and he is still well thought of by the players at the Lane.

Vega keeps in regular contact with a number of his former team-mates and he admits they are rapidly becoming Celtic fans.

“I've been talking to them and I've been telling them that this is a great club,” said Vega. “Celtic have fantastic support. They had an incredible following in America and I've never seen anything like that.

“When we were in Tampa Bay I've never seen so many supporters in a different country - it was unbelievable.

“I speak to Les Ferdinand and Sol Campbell and other former team-mates and I keep telling them to come up here.

“I'm very happy here and they're very pleased that this has worked out well for me. They look to see how Celtic got on after Spurs have finished playing.”

Vega, on loan in Glasgow, has reiterated that he is ready to sit down with manager Martin O'Neill and is prepared to commit himself to a long-term contract.

He added: “I am just pleased to be here and have the chance to play regularly in the first team once again.

“It is important to concentrate on playing and helping Celtic to win things and then after that I want to sit down with Martin O'Neill and discuss my future.”

O'Neill handed Vega a short-term contract until the end of the season but the player has already proved that he is well worth a long-term deal.
