Spurs U17s 2-4 Southampton
Kieran McKenna's double wasn't enough as our Under-17s play-off hopes slipped away against Southampton.
McKenna's strikes put Jimmy Neighbour's boys 1-0 and 2-1 up but a mistake just before half-time saw Saints level at 2-2 and they went on to win via two penalties in the second half.
Having lost to Blackburn Rovers in their first game of three, the lads cannot now qualify for the knockout stages of the play-offs - only the winners go through.
Coach Jimmy reflected: "First half we did okay. We went 1-0 up when Kieran McKenna scored from Owen Price's cross but they came back within five minutes, a great goal struck from 25 yards that gave the keeper no chance.
"Credit to the lads though, they went on again, got forward and Kieran got in the box and finished off a good move and we were looking at going in half-time 2-1 up.
"Unfortunately we then made a diabolical slip at the back, played a square ball across the box intercepted by their centre forward who just rolled it in the net.
"So instead of going in 2-1 up we were a bit disappointed. If we'd kept hold of that lead, who knows? We might have hung on.
"Anyway, the second half was an even game still. We had our moments but didn't quite have enough about us to get the win and Southampton ended up getting two penalties, one doubtful, one that certainly was.
"Never mind, the lads did themselves proud, they weren't overawed and Southampton didn't look that much better than us - it's just the silly mistakes we've got to look to cut out."
