Matty: Good to be back
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Matthew Etherington made his return from injury for the reserves against Wimbledon on Monday evening and reports no adverse reaction.
Matty was again flying down the left against the Dons where the second string recorded an impressive 2-0 win with the 21-year-old providing the final ball for both goals.
He has been absent from first team duty since mid-November after initially sustaining bone bruising to his ankle in the Worthington Cup tie at Burnley.
"It's good to get back in amongst it," said a happy Matty last night. "I enjoyed it, even though it was not the best conditions in the world but it is a matter of getting my fitness back.
"As long as I'm playing, that is the main thing.
"I felt okay, to be fair, considering I've been out for a couple of months. I felt sharp enough, obviously there is still a bit to come, but I felt alright."
Matty first attempted a playing return in mid-November, playing the first half of the derby at Highbury, but has since concentrated on reaching peak fitness.
"I wanted to make sure it was right this time. I kept playing on it when it wasn't and I wanted it to be 100 per cent and I think it is now," he added, before admitting that he hopes a first team call isn't too far away.
"Hopefully. I might need another reserve game or two, but I should be there or thereabouts."
