Matt shines for Bradford
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Matthew Etherington has certainly made an impact since going to Bradford on loan - under the watchful eye of the Spurs chief scout.
Matty made his home debut for the Bantams against Watford on Saturday, scoring early in a 4-3 win for his temporary club. He has now been rewarded with a call to the England under-20 squad Portugal in a friendly at Southampton’s St Mary’s Stadium on Wednesday 21 November.
Chief scout Graham Carr was at Valley Parade to cast his eye over Matty's performance and was delighted with what he saw.
"He did very well, I was really impressed with him," said Graham.
"I thought, if he was a Bradford player and I was looking on for a Premier League club, he would have really caught the eye."
So is there a big difference in standard between Division One and the reserve team league that Matty has often shone in?
"There was a 16,000 crowd there, you've got to be on your toes all the time. Sometimes in the reserves you can get lost because there's nobody about.
"He became very popular with their fans, he kept them on the edge of their seats and they must have kept him on his toes as well. They cheered everything he did and I was really impressed with his performance.
"He scored within five minutes, which was a massive lift for him, he got in on the back post and headed one in.
"I said to the coaching staff that he has definitely improved in terms of his positional sense, everything about him."
