‘Matches were like home games’ - Mauricio and Harry on US tour
31 July 2017|Tottenham Hotspur
Mauricio Pochettino and Harry Kane thanked fans for their ‘phenomenal support’ during our tour of the USA.
Fans packed events and matches as we visited Orlando, New York and Nashville from July 19-30, our fifth trip to the States in the last seven years.
The support for us was simply outstanding in our International Champions Cup matches against PSG at the Camping World Stadium, Orlando, Roma at the Red Bull Arena, New Jersey - where Mauricio commented that it felt like 80 per cent of fans were supporting us - and finally City at the Nissan Stadium, Nashville, where over 40 of our official supporters’ clubs based in the US were represented in a crowd of 56,232, a record for a soccer match in Tennessee.
Mauricio said: “It’s true, the support on tour was fantastic, massive support from the people here and that shows how our Club is.
“Our following here is phenomenal and I just say ‘thanks’ to all of them.
“We were disappointed (after the loss against City) because as fans, it’s difficult to understand when you lose so we say ‘sorry’ for that and we hope to see them all again soon.”
Harry added: “It’s been incredible. Every game we’ve played has been pretty much like a home game through our supporters. It’s been fantastic and a big thanks to the fans for coming out to watch us.
“Every time we come to America it’s like that and hopefully our supporter groups will keep growing and growing and the Club will get bigger and bigger.”
