Match Report - Wimbledon U19 v Tottenham Hotspur Under 19 - 07 Dec 2002

U18 Academy South

Following on from their FA Youth Cup success against Portsmouth earlier in the week, the under-19s were comfortable 3-0 winners over Wimbledon on Saturday.

Coach Pat Holland added four third years to his line-up from the game at Fratton Park and goals from Lee Barnard, Mark Yeates and Jamie Slabber settled a pleasing morning's work.

Pat takes up the story...

"In a way it was a carry on from Wednesday evening. Some of the football played was excellent, with Mark Yeates prominent in a lot of the good stuff.

"We scored after about 25 minutes, Yeates picked it up and played a nice little ball into Lee Barnard who, from the edge of the box, curled it into the top right hand corner.

"Just before half-time, Yeates got the ball in the box, chested it, and before it hit the ground he dinked it over the keeper - two terrific goals.

"The second half wasn't as fluent as the first, but there were still times when we could have increased our lead.

"Right at the end a good right footed cross from Michael Malcolm found Jamie Slabber at the far post - that was it, 3-0. It was a good week for them.

"They looked as though they enjoyed it. The third years that came in slotted into the system nicely and did well."

Team: Robert Burch, Daniel Perry, Marcel McKie, David Tyrie, Danny Foster, Paul O'Donoghue, Lee Barnett (Mark Hughes 55), Ben Bowditch, Mario Noto (Michael Malcolm 80), Lee Barnard (Jamie Slabber 45), Mark Yeates.
