U17 Academy South

FA PREMIER ACADEMY LEAGUE

Birmingham City U17s 1-2 Spurs

Charlie Daniels and Charlie Lee gave Birmingham the Blues in a storming second half comeback from our Under-17s.

City forged ahead at the start of the second half in tricky, windy conditions but Daniels levelled after 66 minutes and Lee volleyed home the winner as time ran out.

Coach Jimmy Neighbour took ou the story: "Conditions weren't great, tricky, but the pitch was alright.

"It was goalless at half-time, both teams had a couple of half-chances but Birmingham went into the lead in the second half, a goal perhaps we should have defended better.

"Credit to the boys though, they showed character and came back. The first goal was a little fortunate when Charlie Daniels, 16-years-old, his first start for us, hit a ball from the edge of the box and the keeper should have done better.

"We deserved to be level though and with four minutes left, Charlie Lee got on the far post to half-volley a very good goal after a cross from Mark Wright.

"We were delighted with the way they played in the end, showing character with a young side out."

Spurs U17s: Eyre, Watson (Watson, 28), Francis (Wright, 75), Stevens, Welch, Jenkins, Lee, Hicks, Barcham, McKenna, Daniels. Unused sub: Forecast.
