Match Report - Tottenham Hotspur U17 v Wimbledon U17
U17 Academy South
Kieran McKenna scored the decisive goal as our under-17 side secured a 1-0 win over Wimbledon at Spurs Lodge.
The Irish youngster's second half strike, along with Nicky Eyre's penalty save were the high points of a game that coach Jimmy Neighbour felt took time to get going.
Jimmy takes up the story...
"We won the game 1-0 and it was a tough game - as it always is when you play Wimbledon.
"It was an average type of game to start off with, the passing wasn't as good as I hoped it might be.
"They had the first chance when their striker when through one on one with the goalie. Nicky got a fingertip to it and made a good save which kept the score level.
"The second half was much better, we came out and passed the ball a lot better and created three or four very good chances.
"The highlight of the half was the fact that we gave a penalty away - it wasn't, but for some reason the ref gave one. Nicky saved it.
"We went on from there and Andy Barcham chased the ball to the line, never gave it up, and put a great ball into the box for Kiaran McKenna to score.
"I think we deserved it in the end because, although it wasn't a great game, we did work hard and I was quite pleased with them."
