A six-goal salvo in the first half did the damage as our Spurs XI side opened their pre-season campaign with victory over Dartford FC on Monday night.

A six-goal salvo in the first half did the damage as our Spurs XI side opened their pre-season campaign with victory over Dartford FC on Monday night.

The 2,000-plus fans at the excellent Princes Park Stadium were treated to a goal-fest with the first 45 minutes just about packing in everything possible - six goals, the woodwork hit by both sides, both keepers making fine saves and Jamie O'Hara almost scoring from 60 yards.

The pick of the half-dozen in the first half - all the goals described below - were the first and last goals - Taarabt's clean strike from 25 yards to open the scoring before Barcham strolled onto O'Hara's pass and curled home from the edge of the area.

O'Hara was denied an early goal of the season contended just before the break when he spotted Kebbell off his line from his own half, only for his 60-yarder to come back off the crossbar. Barnard followed up but Kebbell somehow recovered to palm clear.

Kebbell was a busy man in the first period and saved from O'Hara on three occasions, Taarabt, Maghoma and Archibald-Henville.

In-between all that, the home side had their chances.

Ryan Hayes saw his dipping shot hit the underside of the crossbar after 22 minutes and as play continued, Tommy Forecast was forced into a fine tip over from Jay May's looping header. From that corner, Brendan Cass's header beat Forecast but Ifil was there to clear off the line. Ten minutes later, Cass beat Forecast again, only to see his header cannon back off the inside of the post.

Clive Allen made three changes at half-time with Cian Hughton, Chris Riley and David Hutton brought into the action for Barnard, Barcham and Archibald-Henville. Ifil switched to centre-back, Riley went to right-back and Hutton led the line, supported by an advanced Taarabt with O'Hara and Daniels also pushed well forward.

Ifil almost got his name on the scoresheet inside two minutes, his far post volley from O'Hara's corner cleared off the line by McClements before Dartford's second half keeper James Tedder denied Livermore and Hutton.

The Darts kept plugging away though and Forecast was forced to tip over from Cass before May pulled a goal back, finishing well from McClements' cross after 66 minutes for 6-1.

We soon responded as Livermore cut back for Daniels to drill home after 68 minutes, Tedder denied O'Hara and Livermore before O'Hara unleashed a low drive that hit both posts and bounced to safety. O'Hara then curled just wide, all in the space of a few minutes.

The game had its quietest spell for the next 10 minutes but it was the home side that registered next as Osbourne found McClements, who made no mistake from 16 yards for 7-2.

The chances continued, Taarabt laid it on a plate for O'Hara, who curled over from 10 yards and then saw Tedder save his quickly-taken free-kick low to his right.
