Bristol City U19s 2-3 Spurs
Pat Holland rightly praised an inspirational performance from Mark Yeates as our Under-19s beat Bristol City 3-2 on Saturday.
The Irish midfielder netted a hat-trick including a late winner after City had hauled back a 2-0 deficit to level at 2-2.
Coach Pat takes up the story: "It was nice to get a result but what was more important was the performance.
"I've not been particularly pleased with how we've played lately but the performance was very good and we had a very young side, all under 18 with a couple of schoolboys as well in Ifil and O'Hara.
"Both sides tried to play on what was a poor pitch, both sides had a go, but in fairness the player who changed the game was Mark Yeates.
"He opened the scoring with a header from a good cross from Owen Price after about seven minutes and we went in 1-0 up.
"We started the second half brightly as well and Yeatesy scored the second, beat the man and slid it past the goalkeeper and I though that would be it.
"But they went straight down the other end, scored, that lifted them and they equalised with about 12 minutes to to.
"Suddenly we're thinking it's a shame because we could end up losing but Mark's beat a couple of players and rifled it into the top corner. It was a special day for him, a young boy in the youth team but he can look back and say he was the difference."
