Match Report - Birmingham City U17 v Tottenham Hotspur U17 - 18 Oct 2003

U17 Academy South

FA PREMIER ACADEMY LEAGUE

Birmingham City U17s 1-0 Spurs

This was a disappointing result and our team performance certainly failed to reflect the good display and great result of the previous week, in our victory at home to London neighbours Arsenal.

Coach Jimmy Neighbour reports: “We passed the ball reasonably well at times, but didn’t create enough chances although, to be fair, Birmingham City did not really look like scoring either.

“The decisive goal came midway through the second half, when the Birmingham striker finished from a ball we should have cleared.

“Although we didn’t deserve to lose, we didn’t deserve a win either, a draw would probably have been a fair result.”

Concludes Jimmy: “We must look to create more in the last third of the field.”

Spurs: Forecast, Kyriacou, Wright, Lee, Welch, Riley, Mascarenhas, O’Hara,
Thyer, Stevens, Daniels. Subs (not used): Lewis, Maghoma, Dawkins, Heller.
