Massive for Milo
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Milenko Acimovic will be at the centre of a neighbourly Euro-spat when he takes the field for his native Slovenia in the Euro 2004 play-off first leg against Croatia on Saturday.
The game is as big as it comes in the region and a particularly hostile atmosphere is guaranteed in both games - the return leg being on Wednesday. Such will be the tensions involved, Milo claims he would have preferred to be drawn against the powerful Dutch or Spanish!
"It is an important game for us and Croatia - it is a very big game," explained Milo. "I even think it might have been better to have drawn against Spain or Holland than Croatia!
"It will be a very big game for me, the biggest game in my career now because it is Croatia. If we win this game we will be heroes, if we lose everybody will be really disappointed.
"The atmosphere will be something else. The first game is in Croatia and when we played a friendly match there they smashed our bus going along the street, about 1,000 fans - and that was only a friendly game.
"I think because this game is so big there will be extra security and I hope everything will be okay, on and off the pitch.
"We will be a little bit scared, because we know what this game means - if we win we go to the Euro 2004."
Milo, who has yet to feature for Spurs this season, reports that he is not alone in enduring a lack of match action.
"It's very difficult for our manager because about five or six of the players are not playing club football - like me - and it is hard for the national team.
"The manager trusts us and I think when we come to play for the national team we will do a very good job."
The midfield playmaker would not be drawn into any predictions over the outcome of the game - just that both teams know each other pretty well.
"We know everything about Croatia, like they know everything about us. We just have to wait for the game and see what happens."
