Martin backing kids' cup bid
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Martin Jol is hoping fans join him and turn out to back our Under-18 side's bid for a place in the FA Youth Cup Final at the Lane on Wednesday night.
Pat Holland's lads take on Ipswich Town in the semi-final, second leg and need to overturn a 2-0 deficit from Friday's first leg at Portman Road.
Over 4,000 fans turned up on a chilly night in Suffolk for that first leg and Martin hopes we can match that turn out.
"This cup is so important for their development," said Head Coach Martin. "I hope there is a good crowd for them at White Hart Lane because they deserve it.
"We have a good youth team and we certainly have a chance. We started off well in the first leg at Ipswich, we were the better team for the first 20 minutes but then we had problems in midfield and Ipswich played some terrific stuff.
"Having said that if we can get our crowd behind them at home it will be a big lift for them and I'm sure they can do it.
"We have a good side. Phil Ifil is there, Jamie O'Hara and we have some terrific players in midfield, at the back and Andy Barcham does well up front. It's pleasing to see that we have young prospects.
"The main thing is that everyone is as important in the club. I hope they realise that. They have done so well in the competition, I think they are in with a big chance and I just hope the fans turn out in force as well."
