Malaysia XI 1-2 Spurs - Mauricio's verdict

27 May 2015|Tottenham Hotspur

Mauricio Pochettino took positives from the performance of our younger players as we beat a Malaysia XI 2-1 to lift the AIA Cup in Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday.

Harry Kane struck both goals to topple a spirited Malaysian team at the Shah Alam Stadium.

Indeed, the home team levelled Harry’s 19th-minute opener just after the half-hour but the man of the moment was there again to provide a deadly finish to another Tom Carroll assist, the goal that proved the winner.

“It was a difficult game,” said Mauricio. “The conditions were tough, it’s not easy to play in this weather, very hot, very humid on the pitch, the players were also a little tired after the travelling but I think we’re happy.

“We’ve done some good things, the young players did well and it was a great experience for us.

“It’s been a good opportunity for the youngsters to play and train with the first team and that’s important because they are the future of the club.”
