Macmillan backs Foundation’s cancer exercise programme in Barnet
10 August 2017|Tottenham Hotspur
The Tottenham Hotspur Foundation’s exercise programme for cancer sufferers has received backing from Macmillan Cancer Support to continue its good work in Barnet, following a fantastic first year in the borough, where 74 people benefitted.
The Move4You initiative sees cancer rehabilitation instructors from our Foundation deliver a course of 12 free weekly exercise sessions for adults either living with or recovering from cancer.
Before being introduced in Barnet last year, the programme had already been running in Haringey, Enfield and Islington. Over 600 people have taken part so far and it celebrated its third anniversary in April.
It has been proven that taking part in physical activity during and after cancer treatment is safe and has many long-term benefits. This includes reducing consequences of treatment, such as cardiovascular disease and fatigue.
