Mabizela's dream

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Mbulelo Mabizela is determined to follow in the footsteps of the likes of South Africa legend Lucas Radebe and make it in the Premiership.

The 22-year-old arrived at Spurs Lodge with the rest of our South African tour party this morning and the club hopes, following successful completion of negotiations, medical and work permit, we will be able to announce his transfer.

After an 11-hour flight to the UK, Mabizela told exclusively this morning: "I'm very pleased to be with the team and I'm looking forward to playing football now. That's what I want to do.

"It's a great opportunity for me to come and join a big Premiership team.

"It's been my biggest dream to come and play in England. Players like Lucas Radebe, Shaun Bartlett and Quinton Fortune have opened the gates for up and coming stars in South Africa. I will try me best to follow them."

Known back home at 'Oldjohn', his mother's maiden name, Mabizela is currently captain of both South Africa and SAPL champions Orlando Pirates.

Considered as the man South Africa will build their defence around in years to come, he was outstanding as the Pirates toppled us 2-1 on our first tour game in Durban last Saturday.

Capped 20 times by his country, he won the SAPL Player of the Year award, Pirates Player of the Year and Players' Player and was voted Footballer of the Year by Kick-Off Magazine last season.
