Lucky 13 for Kasey?
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
The latest FIFA rankings listed the USA 13th in the world, Kasey Keller now feels that ranking must be justified on the road.
The US meet Christian Ziege's Germany in Rostock and are in pretty fine fettle having recently won the Confederations Cup with Kasey playing a starring role.
But Germany away is certainly a truer test of of their World Cup credentials as the US seek to mount a challenge in Japan and South Korea.
"We're building," stated Kasey. "We need to be a little bit more consistent on the road, but at home we're difficult to beat. If we can get that little bit of form away from home we can be right up there.
"We've done very well. We've played some big games and been able to come away with the victories.
"We were a little disappointed because we played very well against Italy a few months ago. We really deserved to get something out of the game but came away with nothing.
"The Italian fans were actually cheering us by the end of the first half."
The Germans have a little statistic they would like to address when the Americans visit - they have lost the last two encounters.
"Yes, but one was a friendly and the other was in the Confederation Cup when Germany didn't have a full squad," Kasey pointed out. "This is going to be a different game, they know we've beaten them the last two times.
"They are at home now and they don't want to be embarrassed by us. We have a very, very difficult game going into Germany."
With the summer's festivities looming, Kasey feels that the trip to Germany will be a real live preparation and not just the sparring sessions that friendly internationals usually amount to.
"It is not going to be a stroll. The Italians came out thinking it was going to be that, but I sure the Germans watched that game and they know that.
"It's going to be tough and we know we're going to be in for a difficult game.
"What makes it difficult for us is that it is the opening weekend of the MLS season. So we have guys that are going to be coming over who will have played games all over the US. They have to get on a flight, fly over to Europe and get ready for a Wednesday kick-off.
"It is going to put us at a little disadvantage."
Happily, Kasey will be playing against Germany and trying to further impress coach Bruce Arena after some great recent displays.
"It's my turn to play. After the success I've had in seven games playing for the States over the last two months this is a big opportunity and a big, big game.
"If I can come up with something special and help the team get a result then I will be in a better position."
