Lost for words
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Even Erik Edman struggled to find the words to describe his wonder goal at Anfield on Saturday.
The Swedish full-back opened the scoring against Liverpool with a goal all footballers dream about - a 35-yard screamer into the top corner to leave keeper Jerzy Dudek and the famous Kop suitably stunned.
The goal capped a fine start at Anfield but the home side eventually got into their stride, Luis Garcia levelled before the break, Robbie Keane headed us into a 2-1 lead before Steven Gerrard missed a penalty and Sami Hyypia volleyed a second equaliser. Gerrard hit the post in the last minute and Fernando Morientes blazed over in injury time but we deserved a point.
"I got the ball outside the box and just shot," said Erik, laughing as he realised the goal deserved more of a description.
"I was a little confused as what to do," he added. "I was thinking maybe I should pass the ball or cross it to the far post but then I decided to shoot.
"It was a really nice feeling. I knew straight away it would be difficult for Dudek. You have to decide so quickly and to be honest, I don't remember what I thought! Perhaps that was the best thing!"
It's been an up and down season for the 26-year-old but he's certainly enjoyed the last few weeks - buoyed by a first international goal for Sweden, a run in the Spurs side and now his first goal for us.
"It's been a great month for me, scoring my first goal goal and winning with Sweden and getting my chance to play three games in a row for Spurs," he said.
"For me, it's getting towards the end of the season and I want to pick up as many appearances as possible. I just want to keep on playing."
