Loss tough to take - Eric
09 August 2015|Tottenham Hotspur
Eric Dier admitted it was ‘difficult to look on the bright side’ after our opening day loss at United.
Kyle Walker’s unfortunate own goal after 22 minutes proved the difference after we gave as good as we got at Old Trafford on Saturday.
We started in fine fashion, created chances and then pinned United back in the second half.
Christian Eriksen forced Sergio Romero into two late saves and it was telling that United were left holding the ball in the corner to run out time as the final seconds ticked away.
“We pressed them from the off, kept going until the very end and tried to get the equaliser,” said Eric, who lined-up in a holding midfield role alongside Nabil Bentaleb.
“The goalkeeper made some good saves and it was disappointing for us but we gave it a good go.
“Old Trafford is a hard place to go and win. There are lots of positives for us to take but if you don’t get any reward it’s difficult to look on the bright side.”
