Looking good for Doc

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Gary Doherty says that he is greatly encouraged by his inclusion back in the first team squad in recent games.

The Republic of Ireland international featured little last season and was in and out of the 16 in the opening games of the current campaign.

Since David Pleat took over the reigns on a caretaker basis, Gary has started three and been involved in all but one of the other games on the substitutes bench. He is naturally delighted at in change in fortunes.

"It is very encouraging," he smiled. "I think since the change I do feel a bit more involved in the team, which is good for me personally. Hopefully my performances have been good enough to keep me in and around the team.

"Of course it helps me with my form - you need match fitness. If I wasn't as involved I would certainly be looking for a loan move because, at this stage of my career and this point of the season, I need to be playing football.

"I'm happy at the moment, being on the bench and getting games, it is obviously a big plus for me."

Gary now feels that he is as close as he has been to the form and fitness he was enjoying before he suffered a broken leg against Torquay the season before last.

"Definitely, the Leicester one was hard for me because it was my first game back. That was the hardest then the West Ham game went quite well for me and I did feel my fitness getting up.

"I played against Bolton as well and I think those three games have served me well.

"I am competing now. Deano and Anthony's performances have been brilliant and they have had to be because David would change it otherwise. It is big bonus because we are all competing," he added, before admitting that last January's transfer window was an unsettling time for him.

"I was getting linked all over the place and I didn't know anything concrete about any of it. I am just happy here and feeling really good at the moment."
