Jake Livermore and Yago Falque were in action for their respective loan clubs on Wednesday evening – completing a midweek of mixed fortunes for our lads.
Jake played 90 minutes for 10-man Hull City, as they suffered a 2-1 reverse at West Ham United in the Premier League.
Yago, meanwhile, helped Rayo Vallecano secure a 1-0 La Liga win against Osasuna in Spain. He was substituted two minutes into stoppage time.
Jon Obika played a key role as Charlton secured a valuable 1-0 win at Nottingham Forest in the Championship on Tuesday night.
The striker, in only his third appearance of his second loan spell at the Addicks, raced clear with 10 minutes remaining at the City Ground and struck the post - the rebound fell to Jordan Cousins, who slotted home and that's how it stayed.
The win lifted Charlton out of the relegation zone, three points ahead of Yeovil, Barnsley and Millwall.
Ryan Fredericks was back in the Millwall line-up and played the full 90 minutes as the Lions lost 3-2 at home to Birmingham to slip to the bottom of the table.
At the other end of the table, Tom Carroll started for QPR and played his part in the winning goal as the Rs toppled Wigan 1-0 at Loftus Road. Tom found Clint Hill and his backheel was finished by Yossi Benayoun. QPR are third but 10 points adrift of Burnley in the second automatic promotion place.
In League One, Alex Pritchard was suspended and Grant Hall and Ryan Mason both injured as Swindon completed a key 2-1 win at Tranmere. They still have hope of making the play-offs as Peterborough United, currently in sixth and in the final play-off berth, lost 3-1 at Preston. Swindon are eighth, four points behind.
