Tomislav Gomelt enjoyed a last-gasp win on his full debut for Italian side Bari during a weekend of mixed fortunes for our on-loan players.
The midfielder, who made his first appearance for the Serie B club as a second half substitute in last week’s defeat to Carpi, played the full 90 minutes for the first time as ‘i Biancorossi’ triumphed 1-0 at Cittadella – their winning goal arriving in the second minute of stoppage time from substitute Joseph Minala.
Also tasting victory at the weekend was Alex Pritchard, who was part of the Brentford side that triumphed 3-1 at home to Blackburn Rovers in the Championship – the midfielder being withdrawn with three minutes remaining.
Milos Veljkovic, meanwhile, was an unused substitute for Middlesbrough as they beat Derby County 2-0 at the Riverside in a top-of-the-table clash. Ryan Fredericks missed out for Boro through injury.
In League Two, Shaq Coulthirst was on the bench for Southend United as they slumped to a 4-1 defeat at Wycombe Wanderers while goalkeeper Jordan Archer missed Northampton Town’s 3-2 home defeat at the hands of Plymouth Argyle through suspension.
Lewis Holtby played 90 minutes for Hamburg as they battled out a goalless draw away to Freiburg in the German Bundesliga, while fellow midfielder Tom Carroll was unable to feature for Swansea City in our 2-1 win at the Liberty Stadium on Sunday with loan rules not permitting him to play against his parent club.
