Loan watch special - Shaq's goal at Os
25 January 2014|Tottenham Hotspur
Shaq Coulthirst is relishing his first loan experience.
The striker, who turned 20 in November, joined League One high-fliers Leyton Orient on a month's loan on January 3.
He's featured twice so far and has already bagged his first goal, a one-on-one finish to complete Orient's recent 4-0 win against Carlisle.
"My first goal was amazing, the best feeling in the world," he said. "I made my debut and that topped it. It meant a lot to me, my family and my friends.
"Hopefully it’s just the first step. I’m at Orient to try and score goals. That’s my job. I just want to prove that I can do it, starting here."
Shaq, who made his Spurs debut off the bench against Anji in the Europa League in December, admitted it was new experience to step into a new dressing room after spending all his career so far at our Academy.
"I’ve been at Spurs for 10 years now, so it was strange to be with different players for a start!" he said.
"Also, they are all different ages and experience and I’m used to be around team-mates of my age. There is a big mix here, ages and personalities.
"In training, it’s a lot less about developing the individual and everything is about the team and how we can win the next game.
"Winning means everything and it’s good to get a first taste of that. Every point means something, win or draw, and the manager says that before every game. It’s vital.
"It is more physical and defenders rely on that a bit more, but it’s nothing I’m not used to. That’s the type of player I am. I enjoy that side of it."
