Loan watch - point for Grant

21 July 2014|Tottenham Hotspur

Grant Ward was a second half substitute as Chicago Fire were held 1-1 at home by Philadelphia Union in the MLS over the weekend.

Our on-loan midfielder stepped off the bench in the 76th minute, but his side was left to rue a controversial late penalty, which enabled Philadelphia to escape with a point from Toyota Park.

Jeff Larentowicz had opened the scoring for the Fire on the hour mark and that goal looked enough for all three points, but the injury-time penalty – converted by Sebastien Le Toux – ensured Philadelphia left with a point.

The Fire are now three points off the play-offs in eighth place and will be looking to narrow this gap when they visit San Jose on Wednesday, before we visit Toyota Park on July 26 in the final leg of our pre-season tour.
