Jon Obika played 90 minutes for Charlton Athletic in Tuesday night’s clash with Barnsley.
With both sides battling to get away from the drop zone, Barnsley took a 2-0 lead before the Addicks pulled one back in stoppage time – the match ending 2-1 in the visitors’ favour.
WEEKEND ACTION
Shaq Coulthirst bagged his first goal for Torquay United to help his loan club win three vital points at the weekend.
Shaq broke the deadlock in the 62nd minute of Torquay’s match at fellow League Two strugglers Bristol Rovers on Saturday, netting a diving header. His side went on to register a 2-1 victory.
Yago Falque was also on target in Spain over the weekend, scoring Rayo Vallecano’s first goal in their 2-2 La Liga draw at Espanyol. He was substituted with a minute of normal time remaining.
Elsewhere, Jake Livemore got the assists for Hull City’s first and fourth goals in their 5-3 FA Cup semi-final victory against Sheffield United at Wembley on Sunday.
Jake played the full game as Steve Bruce’s side booked their place in next month’s final against Arsenal.
Lewis Holtby also played a key role for his loan club – it was his free-kick that was flicked on by Steve Sidwell to allow Hugo Rodallega to hit the back of the net and give Fulham a meaningful 1-0 win at home to Norwich City in the Premier League on Saturday.
In the Championship, Tom Carroll was directly involved in the build-up to Queens Park Rangers’ first and third goals in their 5-2 home win over Nottingham Forest. Tom played the full 90 minutes alongside Spurs colleague Benoit Assou-Ekotto.
Ryan Fredericks was an unused substitute for Millwall as they drew 2-2 at home to Watford in the same division.
Alex Pritchard and Grant Hall had varying levels of involvement for Swindon Town in their 1-0 home victory against Brentford in League One.
Alex won a penalty in the first half after being brought down in the box. The resulting spot kick, taken by Michael Smith, was saved – but Swindon did take the lead just before the break and that’s how it stayed. Alex was substituted in the 85th minute, while Grant made his return from a lengthy injury lay-off when he entered the fray off the bench in stoppage time.
In Portugal, Cristian Ceballos played 58 minutes for FC Arouca in their 2-0 reverse at home to Benfica.
