Loan watch - Lewis on target
10 March 2014|Tottenham Hotspur
Lewis Holtby was on the scoresheet for Fulham at Cardiff City on Saturday, although his side ultimately left empty handed.
Our on-loan midfielder equalised for the Cottagers in the second half, cancelling out Cardiff’s first half opener, but the Bluebirds regained the upper hand and went on to secure a 3-1 win.
It was a happier afternoon for Benoit Assou-Ekotto and Tom Carroll – both were involved in Queens Park Rangers’ 2-0 win at Brimingham, Benoit playing the full 90 minutes with Tom being introduced as a late substitute for brace-scorer Ravel Morrison.
Elsewhere in the Championship, Jon Obika and Ryan Fredericks were unused substitutes for their respective loan sides. Jon’s Brighton & Hove Albion battled out a 1-1 draw at home to Reading while Ryan’s Millwall won 1-0 at Derby County.
Alex Pritchard returned to action for Swindon Town, his side slipping to a 2-1 defeat at home to MK Dons in League One. Alex was involved in the build-up to Swindon’s goal in the first period, his initial shot being saved by Dons goalkeeper David Martin before Michael Smith netted from the rebound.
Two of our young goalkeepers got game time under their belts for non-league sides at the weekend, Jonathan Miles making his debut for Skrill Conference South side Whitehawk in their 2-1 defeat at Weston-super-Mare while Luke McGee was between the sticks for Harlow Town in their 1-0 reverse at Waltham Forest in the Ryman League.
In overseas action, Cristian Ceballos played 90 minutes for Portuguese side FC Arouca in their 4-1 defeat at Porto, while Yago Falque will hope to be in action for Rayo Vallecano in Spain’s La Liga tonight (Monday) as they visit Real Sociedad.
