Loan watch - Jake, Simon and Alex on target
02 December 2013|Tottenham Hotspur
Jake Livermore bagged his first Premier League goal for Hull City on another busy weekend for our loanees.
Jake’s deflected shot put Steve Bruce’s side into a 20th minute lead against Liverpool – with the Tigers going on to win the game 3-1.
Jake wasn’t the only one of our on-loan lads to hit the target this weekend – Simon Dawkins scored for Derby County in their 3-1 win at Wigan Athletic in the Championship.
Craig Bryson’s early opener for the Rams was added to when Simon capitalised on an error from Ben Watson and finished well.
Derby added a third before the interval when Chris Martin converted from the spot, with Nick Powell’s second half header proving merely a consolation for the Latics.
Alex Pritchard was also on target as Swindon Town beat Carlisle United 3-1 in League One. Alex, restored to the Robins’ starting line-up alongside defender Grant Hall, scored one and created another for Mark Cooper’s men. Ryan Mason also played the final 27 minutes, coming on as a substitute for Nathan Thompson.
Alex whipped in a cross for Massimo Luongo to open the scoring nine minutes before the break, before restoring Swindon’s lead in the second half with a well-taken free-kick after Carlisle had drawn level through Sean O’Hanlon. Dany N’Guessan wrapped up the scoring in stoppage time.
Back in the Championship, two of our defenders went head-to-head as Bongani Khumalo’s Doncaster Rovers scooped all three points by way of a 2-1 win over Benoit Assou-Ekotto’s Queens Park Rangers.
Bongani went close to netting a late winner for Doncaster with the scores level at 1-1; he headed just over following a Richie Wellens free-kick. The hosts did finally bag the winner in the 89th minute through Paul Quinn.
Tom Carroll made the bench for Rangers, but didn’t come on, as he continues his recovery from an ankle injury.
Lawrence Vigouroux was in goal for Hyde on Saturday, as they were knocked out of the FA Trophy by North Ferriby United, the Villagers claiming a 2-1 win to advance to the second round.
Elsewhere, Cristian Ceballos started for FC Arouca in their 2-1 defeat to Maritimo in the Portuguese top flight. Cristian was withdrawn in the 72nd minute while the scores were level at 1-1.
Tomislav Gomelt didn’t feature for Royal Antwerp in their 1-0 defeat at Eendracht Aalst in Belgium, while Yago Falque only lasted 23 minutes for Rayo Vallecano in their 2-2 draw with Real Betis in Spain. Yago took a knock and had to be replaced mid-way through the first half, with his replacement, Alberto Bueno, netting both goals for the visitors.
Meanwhile, Adam Smith has returned from his loan spell at Derby County and Lawrence Vigouroux's loan at Hyde FC has been extended by one month into January.
